Change

Dear Reader,

As you can tell, it's been a while since I posted anything to this blog. A big change occured, and it happened fast!

On a Thursday night, we went to bed as a family of two and on Saturday morning, we woke up as a family of five! How did that happen, you ask? We became foster-to-adopt parents to 3 lovely boys. Due to foster care regulations, I can't disclose much about them online. For the purpose of this blog, I will refer to the boys as Samuel (3.5 yrs), Jeremiah (2 yrs), and Little B (8 months).

Parents often say that children change your life for good. I couldn't relate to that saying until I became a foster mom. Children do bring a lot of change and blessings too! They also open our eyes to the reality of who we are versus the perception of who we think we are.

We thought we had reached the pinnacle of maturity in Christ, but this great change revealed that we were just beginning the journey. Our previous trials and adversity were nothing compared to becoming foster parents in one week. There was very little time to prepare for one child, much less three. Virtues like patience, faith, trust, love, and peace have been tested over and over again. At the same time, we have acquired such joy unspeakable.

We have seen the difference between raising children on our own and allowing God to raise them through us. The former leads to frustration and regrets, the latter is more fulfilling and enjoyable.

Now that we've gotten things down to a routine, I hope to return to my passion of writing to bless. I look forward to sharing the joys, blessings, and humor of parenting with you.

Peace,

Idong
